Hello it is time to start thinking about the Draft, and like last year i wanted to take a shot at a prediction before I attempted to talk to insiders and get the real info. I am basing this off current standings and record which obviously should change but its what it is. Without Further Ado i will be saying first prediction for this upcoming draft.
1oa: Chicago Butchers
Needs: WR, DL, DB
Selection: S Paul Edgecomb @TomHanks
There are a ton of great users to pick from but when you see the former DSFL Commish Tom Hanks in a position of need it is hard to pass up on, I view Safety as a potential need for the Butchers as outside of Rico Savage they do not have a amazing option at Safety, i believe that TomHanks would be an amazing 1oa pick, just like he was last time aswell
2oa: New Orleans Second Line
Needs: LB, CB, TE
Selection LB Siri Kjellström @bex
New Orleans Rebuilds continues to go well, however they have not yet figured out a long term solution at LB, they have one piece in Bubba Hog, however they have no successfully drafted people to surround him in the LB room, this is where Bex comes in, the former Commish of the ISFL, and long time Second Line on her first player, Bex can come in and instantly play a huge part in middle of the field for the second line
3oa: San Jose Sabercats
Needs: DL, WR, LB
Selection: DE Doctor Who @thewhovian
The Sabercats have done a good job at building talent however i could see them wanting to make upgrades long term to their DL, as they only have one currently active DL as a starter, Doctor Who could be a massive pick for them as could be someone who might manipulate both time and space to help the Sabercats return to winning ways
4oa: Sarasota Sailfish
Needs: CB, WR, TE
Selection: CB Simon Winston @"Sizzle"
With three of their Cornerbacks entering regression i feel that Sarasota will look to bloster their DBs with a pick of Simon Winston with the 4oa pick, They will hope that they can be the long term replacement for Harley Andrews and can make a massive impact in sarasota
5oa: Colorado Yeti
Needs: DL, CB, WR
Selection: CB Dawelle Wevis @AW13
With Apollo Program being a Bag Chaser, i could see the Yeti looking to target a long term solution to pair with Synystyr Gates, and I could see long time user AW being the answer at this spot, a user who has had some good success with all of his player, I am sure that the Yeti are hoping that Wevis is able to continue that trend for them if they do select him here
6oa: Orange County Otters
Needs: DL, WR, RB
Selection: RB Willie Swaggert @GlimsTC
While I believe that the DL is what OCO will want to figure out in this draft, with so many good running backs available and a uncertainty on who their long term RB2 would be, i have the otters taking Glims with this pick, with his historic willingness to be a team first guy, I could see him being a amazing pick and user for the otter Locker Room
7oa: Yellowknife Wraiths
Needs: S, WR, DL
Selection: S Sebastian Lovecraft @Dagon
The Wraiths have no long term option at Safety, there best safety is a 600 tpe Safety who is about to go through regression and their other options are both only 300 TPE, the are desperately in need of some long term answers in their secondary and i view Dagon as the best person to fill that role for the Wraiths, and while they have a GM in this current draft who can fill the role, i think the lack of high quality DL or S at this spot make this a easier adjustment for a GM swap
8oa: Austin Copperheads
Needs: DL, CB, WR
Selection: DT Oops All-Pro @PugWalrus
Some people might be surprised to see pug slide to this spot at a position of need, however the Copperheads and Pug have made it clear that they wish to make Pug the next GM of Austin, so they will be the selection for the Copperheads at this pick.
9oa: Berlin Fire Salamanders
Needs: LB, WR, CB
Selection: LB Perry Passiveman@Cody
The Fire Sallys have a lot of starting Linebackers who are in regressions, and I feel that they will be looking to upgrade in that regard, Cody was the long time GM of the Philadelphia Liberty (now Cape Town Crash), and would bring in both a large Locker Room Presence and a mastery of the Linebacker positions, with him having both of his formers Linebackers having successful careers at that spot.
10oa: Arizona Outlaws
Needs: LB, DL, RB
Selection: LB Xavier Buckley@CptGoosar
The Outlaws have a pretty major need in the LB department with all three of their starters in regression and only one Linebacker in the pipeline. The Outlaws love bringing back former players and Goosar spent the bulk of his career with the Outlaws and will be a great selection for them at this point
11oa: Cape Town Crash (Via Baltimore Hawks)
Needs: S, DL, LB
Selection LB Ali Star @ProdigalSon
With a few Inactive and Regressing players in their LB Core, i have the Crash taking Ali Star to be the new Star in their defense and should help the Crash start a youth movement for the next era of Cape Town football
12oa: Honolulu Hahalua
Needs: DB, DL, RB
Selection: Micah Dixon @Shylo_Moxii
The Hahalua are a team that is both younger and higher tpe, so they will be happy to begin to think about reblostering their DB core with Dixon with this pick, with Quarterstorm being in regression, Seth Leavitt being IA, and Luigi being a GM, this feels like a time to pick a Corner who can eventually replace one of those guys
13oa: New York Silverbacks
Needs: CB, LB, RB
Selection: RB Hercules Henry @woelkers
While there are a few options at different positions, I feel like the Silverbacks might opt to take their Founder and Current DSFL GM in Woelkers with this pick as a replacement to McTurtle and a potential long term Successor to Dux
14oa: Cape Town Crash
Needs: S, DL, LB
Selection: RB Kit Fisto @Pvtpenne
While I had other positions as bigger needs, I feel like Penne would be an excellent pick as a long term replacement to JHM, and is a great user to have. He is currently the highest TPE player and Cape Town will be looking for a long term option at RB2 after JHM regresses harder and Fisto fits the bill
This is my first attempt this season of a mock draft, I expect that this will not be super similar long term as i have not done as much research but figured this was a fun exercise and gives you prospects a general idea on what teams but it was fun to speculate
