What a year, I got picked up mid season by the Kansas City coyotes and now we have an actual shot at making the playoffs. I know I still haven’t been able to get that oh so sweet first touchdown but I’m saving it for the playoffs ! (If we make it ). We gotta win and some others have to lose for us to get in but that’s just the Cinderella story drama I live for ! But hey if we don’t make it , I can promise you it’s only going to motivate me to get better even more ! I expect big things next year. I’m getting faster and stronger and way more reliable every week. I’ll put my best effort into every season until everyone in the country knows exactly who Neil Bonnet is. Future best tight end in the world right here ! No matter what happens with this season, you’ll find me in the gym !
Upon reading this prompt I suppose it would have been helpful to have done this a bit earlier when my team still had hope BUT NOW THAT WE ARE ELIMINATED I GET TO GO ON A RANT ABOUT HOW MUCH MY TEAM SUCKS! So let's get started! The one highlight of the Yellowknife Wraiths who just missed out on the playoffs in the final game of the season was clearly their kicker Zenzeorni Xystarch II. In fact he may have been the best kicker in the league. But we aren't here to talk about that we are here to talk about all the things that went wrong with this absolutely cursed team that brought us to this point. And honestly, I can summarize it all with one quick sentence: Playing down to your opponents. We narrowly escaped the 5-11 Yeti by a total score of 4 points between the two games! Then go on to defeat one of the best teams in football the Baltimore Hawks! But there were two games that we absolutely should have won and failed to do so. That is our games against NOLA and the Butchers. That's right we lost to the two worst teams in the league and still had a chance at the playoffs! That is what failed us in the end we were not clutch. I talked about the same thing two weeks ago when asked about what adjustments needed to be made and it's the same story now. MY DISAPPOINTMENT IS IMMEASURABLE AND MY DAY IS RUINED.
Howdy! I am responsible for quite possibly the greatest kicker to ever grace the ISFL and am the most accomplished media writer the ISFL has ever seen (no need to ask anyone else regarding either of those claims)

I don't believe much could have been done differently in terms of getting the Orange County Otters into the playoffs. Of course, if the ball would have bounced more in our direction. Or if the refs would actually call penalties on the other teams. Then maybe we could have snuck in through a wildcard spot. But ultimately this was never meant to be a playoff season for us. The team has been building and growing over the last five seasons, but we're not yet expected to be competitive. Sure, somehow we made it to the playoffs two seasons ago. It was kind of a "let's see what happens if we try" kind of season. But since we've gone back to opting to use younger players again.
So what we need to get into the playoffs is simply more time. Maybe not next season, but the season after that I believe we have a guaranteed spot with the best. Playing for the championship.
As a 2nd year player of the Dallas Birddogs, I've seen the ups and downs we take throughout the season. My evaluation of the team's needs to prevail in the playoffs is the following:
1. Defensive acumen - The defensive playcalling has been unpredictable, and sometimes that's worked well. The most important aspect will be to keep the best players on the field as much as possible. Keep the bots on the bench. 2. Keep the ball off the turf - Fumbles haven't been the main issue this year, but there have been enough one score games that it makes those fumbles sting bad. 3. Kick it straight - missed kicks loses games. That's no different in Dallas. Go for it on 4th and short within the 35 yd line to avoid embarrassing missed kicks. 4. RB ratio - The rock needs to run through Marty. Jones is good, but his TPE isn't near Marty, who has the potential the rip big runs and catch the ball. Arceneux is a workhorse too, but may be better as an H-back pass catcher or even a TE1.
I don't think anything could have been done differently. this season was doomed to go as bad as it could. sure we're in the middle of a QB transition and rebuilding, but other teams don't usually go on terrible runs like this. Sarasota started a rookie QB and they've had a winning season every season since. we start a rookie QB and we end up with the worse record than we even thought be possible. Not only did we tie for the worst record in the league this season, tie breakers broke such that we end up with 3oa pick instead of 1oa. that is how bad a season we got. so no i don't think anything could have been done differently to save this season. except if i had been drafted on another team that wasn't so cursed. SJS sold their soles to the devil for back to back ships, and they've been cursed ever since.
I love coming to the PT task late because it feels like I have insider information. The Sarasota Sailfish basically had to win the week 16 game to secure their playoff spot. Thankfully, we were able to make that happen last night. The team has grown a lot over the last season or so, and it's all thanks to the hard work of the GMs and players. This TPE isn't free. Well, it is, but you know what I mean. Effort.
Huge shout out specifically to the folks in the war room who are running simulations and laying out game plans and all of that stuff - we players in the trenches really appreciate all of the work you're doing on our behalf pretty much every single week. The management of the team is great, and I think that's a strong factor in our success. Players want to perform well when their general managers are cool people who they enjoy talking to. That's speculation, but I feel like it tracks. Having said that... let's go fish! We made it to the playoffs!
The general feeling around the Copperheads locker is that we're, ironically, a snakebitten franchise. If we were going to do anything with our competitive window, it had to be now. We would have to run a gauntlet of games against conference contenders New York, Arizona, and Honolulu, but if we won at least two of them or beat Arizona we would be in. Week 14 gave us some hope in a tight defensive battle, but a late score by the Silverbacks put us on a collision course with the Outlaws-- a team we hadn't beaten since S39. Despite our standings advantage, the situation felt dire. That day, though, the whole team showed up in force to beat Arizona by 18. We exorcised our demons and made it to the playoffs, also providing the catalyst for New York to win their match and fully bump Arizona out of the dance. Although we couldn't secure home field advantage by beating the Hahalua in Week 16, we have a chance to make some noise in the postseason and Crasher Wake can't wait to contribute.
Unfortunately, my dear Bondi Beach Buchanneers have been mathematically eliminated. This was a sad ending for what originally started off as what I, at least, considered a hopeful season. However, it just seemed hard for Bondi to put together a solid string of wins. Contributing to this was at least in part, our offense. BMP is the an absolute unit, but he can’t do it all, we had some great highlights from others on offense, but again, lacked consistency game to game. I also think we suffered from losing former teammates to call-ups. We also had more than one game decided by a bad kick (from our notorious bot, who also replaced a call-up), further proving the existence and importance of kickers! It’s hard for me to say what Bondi could have been done differently, they couldn’t really control losing so much talent, but I do think there are some lessons learned for going into the next draft and season.
