The next team to relocate needs to go to South America quite frankly. It is well past time we see every continent represented in the so-called "international" simulation football league, which until recently was only represented by less than half of the continents in the world. Will we ever see Antarctic representation? Probably not. But the very least we could do is boot one of the two California teams (which, as a California native I wholly support) for Australia, they are supposed top be the cool continent right? But if I were in charge of the move, somewhere like Argentina or Chile, or even Brazil would be fantastic. Think about the veracity the South American countries support their national soccer teams, you don't think if they are given a football team all their own that stadium wouldn't instantly become the most hostile environment for opposing teams? Think of the chanting, the game-long chatter, the celebrations afterwards.... well past time we see some representation from the South American countries.
I think you need to look at team performance when deciding on something like relocation if expansion is not on the table. One team that comes to mind to me is Colorado. They have been terrible for a long time. I think it sucks to be a fan of them, but it might be time to try and inject some life into that franchise and relocation might be the ticket.
I think a more obvious choice based on area is Yellowknife. Now I love the branding and I think they can keep all of it, but if they moved to a larger population centre they could pull some additional interest. Maybe even play into that "Canada's team" line if they wanted to. But a bigger centre like Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, or Montreal I think would be a good move in terms of driving interest and ticket sales. As far as I understand it, a team that has perennially been in the discussion of rebranding, and mind you this is a very rudimentary understanding, I don’t think this is happening any time soon, is the Berlin Fire Salamanders, home to my very own Kurt Wagner create. There’s just something about it - it’s not a very fearsome mascot, it doesn’t scream Berlin but rather is something emblematic in a very subtle way, and the logo design is… fine, I suppose? I don’t know, it is not something that I am very fired up by. That’s why I would rename the team the Berlin Visigoths. It’s a ferocious and historical tie to the city, and keeps the military aspect that other users might want. And the design could be very cool, with an axe in one hand and a mug of ale in the other, if we wanted to play into the stereotype of course.

When it comes to relocation, I think some teams are automatically out of the run. Orange County, Arizona, San Jose are the types of teams that have deep history in the ISFL, I wouldn’t touch them and all three have good branding with Orange County being my favorite of the mentioned. Now I think to be honest the Yeti could move, I don’t hate them but it’s just one that could realistically happen. I’d definitely go the South America route now that Osaka exists, I think Brazil is a really cool option on the board that could make for some cool ideas, Toronto is an option that is a bit more unpopular but is something I’ve been dying to see in my now 2 years in the ISFL and I’ve mocked up a ton of ideas to do so. Another possibility is maybe another country in Europe or Africa as I think Berlin is due to have a neighbor to have a rivalry with in the same way teams like the Otters and Sabercats do
I want to take a look at Berlin's branding. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Fire Salamanders, I think it's a pretty unique name and theme for a team. But if it were to have to change, I would want to see Berlin fully embrace the fun history and culture of Germany. This was not my original idea, but when I heard I honestly got pretty excited about the potential it held. The Bremer Stadtmusikanten, or the Town Musicians of Bremen. This is a german fairy tale published by the Brothers Grimm in 1819. It's basically about a group of four animals who escape their abusive owners and strive to start a band in Bremen (a town known for its freedom). I think this brings about some fun themes that could be well used within a team's branding. We've seen a similar theme used with the New Orleans Second Line. While focused a bit more on festivities and celebration, I think the comparison is fair to make. NOLA by the way is one of my favorite brandings because of how special it is. With the Stadtmusikanten, it would admittedly be difficult to make a strong logo to include a donkey, dog, cat and rooster, but I think with some good brainstorming and trial and error something could work out. There's a cool statue in Bremen that showcases the animals standing on each other stacked largest to smallest, so I think that idea would be a good starting place. With the team name itself, I'd prefer we keep it in German, but we'd also probably make an alternate logo in english for those who would prefer to use that. Likewise, I think that the Kaiju should have made an alternate logo using Kanji for the name. It would've looked dope. But anyway, I don't really think that Berlin needs a rebrand, but this idea is a fun one to keep in mind for the future if the team ever wants to make a change.
Relocation? In this economy?! Sure, why not? If San Jose were to pick up and take their business elsewhere, my first thought would be to take the ISFL intergalactic. Or at least galactic. We're going to the moon. With all the technical advancements of the modern age, this should be easy enough. In partnership with Russet Buster, the Sabercats will learn to grow and harvest crops that are low maintenance and require little to no watering. Once our training facilities and living quarters are established, we will begin breaking ground on our field. The green and gold will stand out brilliantly against the pale moonscape. One thing we've already considered is the necessity of a dome stadium, but as a bonus to fans who make the trip, we will make it glass so while there are breaks in the action, they can gaze into the never ending void of space and the twinkling stars.
All of the brands are trash and shouldn't exist. Team names should be simple and easy to remember. I propose the following names for the 14 current teams in the ISFL

We aren't here to play imagination and play with pretty colors to make a logo we are here to play football. I don't need to be playing with arts and crafts I need my teammates on the field practicing for the game. The only team that has decent branding is the Yellowknife Wraiths and that isn't because of the logo or colors but because the color rush field is required to have my restaurant, Zen's Za Italian Pizzeria somewhere located on the field. This is how you do marketing. What we should really be doing is instead of focusing on the location of the teams focus on getting sponsors. I would gladly sponsor Zen's Za Italian Pizzeria Team but we are stuck with these cliche names and places. Howdy! I am responsible for quite possibly the greatest kicker to ever grace the ISFL and am the most accomplished media writer the ISFL has ever seen (no need to ask anyone else regarding either of those claims)

Moving the San Jose Sabercats to Karachi, Pakistan and rebranding as "Karachi Burmanu" would be an interesting endeavor. With its vibrant culture and large population, Karachi offers a promising new market for the party. Careful local market research and community engagement through surveys and town halls will be essential to success. This will help us understand local priorities and get help faster. Rebranding as "Karachi Burmanu" will create a powerful new identity, whose name comes from a mythical creature from Pakistani folklore, which will make the brand a symbol of strength and mystery infusing traditional elements with local culture encounter. A strong marketing campaign will be required to launch Karachi Burmanu, creating buzz and excitement through social media, community events and partnerships with businesses. Engaging fans from the beginning, through naming contests and participatory branding, will create a sense of ownership and loyalty. As a proud old grumpy man who's been a part of the ISFL since season 14, I have made it no secret that I am largely not a fan of rebranding or relocating teams that have a wealth of history associated with them. Too often it feels like a new GM wants to "make their mark on the league" so they decide to uproot something that dozens of people have worked really hard on over multiple years because they think something else is cooler. Not every time, obviously, but I generally approach relocation from a skeptical place. That said, if one team in the league could use a rebrand, I would say we relocate the Sarasota Sailfish to a larger city in Florida. The team doesn't need to change its logo or many elements of its brand, but Sarasota is the 69th largest city in Florida with just 57,000 residents. That's a little over half of Green Bay in the NFL. To keep the alliterative element of the name intact, let's go with the St. Petersburg Sailfish.
