16. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?

The last season was a good one for Pitter Patter. With back to back Ultiminis it was a great one for all Tijuana Luchadores to be honest and since I identify myself as a team player first and foremost team success is all that I strive for. With a 13-1 record and only losing one regular season game and then sweeping through the playoffs there is not a lot more I could have asked for.

Pitter Patter ended the season ranked third in receiving yards with 1286, fourth in average yards per reception with 16.1 yards and second in touchdowns for all receivers with 14 only beaten by Suzuka with their amazing 17 touchdowns. Even if personal stats is not what I strive for overall that is an amazing result even if it did not end up in any awards. Personally I know that a lot of stats in the sim is just random so I will never be pushing for them or expecting them but it still makes me happy to see those.

Ending the season with less drops than last season but more catches is only the cherry on top, while the big downside probably were the 4 fumbles (those damn hands do not do what I want).

Personal highlight of the season was probably the Week 2 game against Norfolk where Pitter Patter accounted for 2 touchdowns, 207 yards on 7 targets with an average YpC of 29.6 in a 48-21 win and a great start in the early season. This game would set the tone somewhat for the season and the dynamic receiver duo of Patter and Benn would be a great teamup with split receptions and great stats without being jelous of each other. Personally I would say that is one of the greatest thing about the Luchadores: The lack of egos and demanding of stats, and just looking towards the team goals.

17. Going to Disney World! Who was the Ultimus or Ultimini Game MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disney World.

Let's talk about the Ultimini. It was a dominant game by Tijuana in the first half which got them there. And it was an all-around team effort, so it is somewhat hard to decide on the Game MVP, but I think I can make an argument for either André Benn or Kit Fisto and in the end I think it would go to Fisto with his 2 touchdowns and 74 yards with an average 9.2 YPC. So that is a well-deserved trip to Disney World for them!

Since it will be their last season with Tijuana being called up to San Jose I think it is only fair that the team prepares a great trip for Fisto and gets prime access to all the rides and food they would ever ask for, starting of course with the Star Wars ride everyone wants to check out these days and then heading over to Epcot for some of the fancy food and the Guardians of the Galaxy ride and ending with some beautiful fireworks and a stay at the best hotel!

31. Make up an award for your player (or even someone else) to win for something not on the football field. (Written Task)

Pitter Patter has a lot of strengths on and off the football field. But if we are strictly talking off the field here I think he should get an award for fighting. He is the best fighter in all of Sudbury after all. People come from near and far to challenge him and no one ever won against him in a good and even fight. While some may think that is a very horrible thing to get an award for, it is just part of the culture of the people there to have a good bar fight sometimes and measure your strengths by a good old trial of the fistycuffs. Maybe it stems from Pitter Patter's youth as a hockey player or simply because he is an old school chorin' farm boy after all but in the end he is just really, really good at it and if there ever was an award for it, Pitter Patter certainly should get it.

2. Tell Us About Your Draft Class

I suppose I will go in order from where they were picked to make things easier for myself so we will start with the number 1 overall selection Thomas Passarelli going to the Second Line as a Tight End. As most tight ends do, Passarelli was quick to change positions to wide receiver and has put up decent numbers in his first two seasons with his new team that being said I’m not sure he is the number 1 pick NOLA thought he would be but his career is still beginning to emerge so we will see.

Next up is another player that switched positions to wide receiver, it is Chicago Butcher “A Waffle”! A Waffle has been racking up his skills waiting for his chance to make an impact in the ISFL and I believe this upcoming season will be the first season he will get a chance to show what his worth is. Whether he will let down his team or show why he was drafted second overall is yet to be seen. Our third pick is ANOTHER wide receiver this one holding his position since he entered the league. Sabercat, Orange Julius made an immediate impact in his first season in the ISFL getting close to an 1000 yard season and had 8 touchdowns to his name. A great pickup for the Sabercats and a player that will likely be a star in the near future. 

Drafted fourth overall and finally moving away from all these wide receivers is cornerback Trent Thigpen. A dedicated player who is near the top of his class in TPE showing that he is ready to help his team any way he can. And helped his team he did as his first season in the ISFL he was able to help his team into the playoffs and into an Ultimus win as he became a lockdown corner only missing 1 tackle all season easily deserving of going so early in the draft. In a deep locker room, this next player Ryan McBean isn’t talked about a lot especially because of his position as a defensive tackle but he has shown he can make an impact in this league although possibly drafted slightly early either way he was definitely a great choice in the first half of the draft. Next up is Thor Dangerson who had an unfortunate setback to start his career that ended up hurting his stock when looking back at him being picked so early but he is doing his best to recover and help his team rise to fame over the next few seasons. 

While not the best current safety of his class Jamie Orion being taken off the board in the first round showed to his new team his ability to adapt and play above what his TPE may say and was a great addition to the Sailfish. Yet to see the ISFL is the 8th pick Tua who at quarterback continues to patiently wait his turn to show what he can do but until then will continue to rack up stats in the DSFL. The next pick, Pete Moss would be the first reach of the draft from my perspective, in need of a future linebacker the Yeti selected Pete Moss but he hasn’t quite performed to the caliber they were hoping. That isn’t to say he won’t in the future but for now, having been picked in the first round is a bit of a surprise. The next pick demonstrates exactly why I believe Moss was taken too early because linebacker Joey Battle was immediately taken after Moss and has played with a vengeance and surpassed all expectations. 

But for the most part, the GM’s did an excellent job in seeking talent and drafting guys who were going to continue to improve with Bamford, Goad, Triceracop, and Bazooka rounding out the first round of the draft and all being some of the top guys at their positions. Possibly the steal of the draft is the man with the most TPE in the class Thor Bakaggoinrgepp selected only in the second round but still feels like he could have gone a lot earlier as he was the third quarterback off the board and now is the first in the ISFL.

14. Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations.

I have been mulling over the possibility of expansion ever since I joined the league. I firmly believe that expansions would be an exciting and beneficial step for the ISFL. Imagine a scenario where new teams are formed or even a special tournament that highlights outstanding players based on their performance. This would be pretty dope and exciting from my point of view.
As for expansion, I believe it is essential for the growth and diversification of the league. The inclusion of new teams would not only increase the players, but also provide opportunities for creativity and the community getting involved. I see it ass a process where team locations and branding are chosen through multiple proposals. This could open the door to cool options, such as creating a team inspired by Mordor or some other popular places from the sci-fi stuff we all like.
In addition, the idea of special matches between iconic teams, like the Galactic Empire versus the Rebels, could be a great deal of interest. These events would not only be exciting from a sporting point of view but would also attract media attention and open up opportunities for new content makers or tasks for tpe.
I see expansion also as an opportunity to involve more creative talent in the league. The introduction of new teams would allow for the creation of unique logos, new uniform designs and distinctive game fields like the ones used on the alternate colors. This would make the aesthetics of the league kinda more “attractive”, also opening up opportunities for the gpx, writers and other creatives to participate and contribute to the overall success of the ISFL.
I'm throwing these ideas out there as suggestions, and I'm excited to see how they might develop if this was ever implemented or taking inspiration from this. Personally, I would make some Zelda-related locations for one tournament. Kinda like smash bros, damn that would be cool af.

15. If you could create a team using any active players in the league, what would that team look like? Would you build a group of all-stars to contend in the next Ultimus, or a team full of jokesters for the fun of it? Describe the roster and why you chose the players you did. (Written or Graphic Task)

Alright, so if I had to put together a team, I'd go for something wild and stupid. How about an all-animal squad? Picture this – Negs, Cycro, LordCoolcats, and yours truly, all in one team. I know, it's not a usual strategy, like not looking at stats and stuff, but just think about it: a team made up of players who are practically zoo material.
I got this idea scrolling through Discord and checking out people's profile pics. Negs has this dog things going on, Cycro's got that cat with a hat I think? vibe, and LordCoolcats is, well, another dog. And me? Well, I'm not exactly a zoo animal, but the raven’s mini dog pfp is pretty dope lmao.
Now, I'm not basing this on stats or something. I'm going for the sheer fun of it. I vaguely remember seeing some graphics of players with animal avatars there was a dude looking like a dog, and another one with a dinosaur thing. So, why not take it to the next level and make a whole team of them?
Imagine going even crazier with the team concept. We could have a god-like team, with Thor leading the charge. God Squad taking on the league, though I don’t really know other people with names like that heh
Or how about going for a monstrous vibe? A team filled with weird creatures , my player is a literal mini chtulu so theres that, someone was a werefolf and I think there is one guy that is just their legs
So, the animal dream team could just be the beginning. But yeah, it would be something related to the previous idea, damn Im good at expanding dumb ideas. If someone make this true gimme a dm cause my brain can go on and on.

23. What are your thoughts on the sim engine? What sort of improvements would you make to the sim engine if given the opportunity?

I joined the league just as we switch to the most recent simulation engine, so what we currently have is all that I know. I will say that the change is probably a very good thing. From what I have been informed is that the previous simulation engine was largely figured out and that there were some positions, like offensive line, that were deemed worthless for a player to be occupying that position. But they are now relevant. Since we are a few seasons into the new simulation engine, it has what you would want in a simulation engine. It has a fair bit of randomness that feels like your team is not completely doomed if you are playing against a roster that is "far and away a better TPE". This allows for playoffs and individual games to feel far more meaningful and allows upsets and that is good for entertainment and in return is good for the league. With these positives that does not mean that this simulation engine does not have it's own set of flaws. The one initial issue that I had with the game was the lack of display of post game stats. This has since been remedied with displaying of the box scores. Kudos to the simulation team for adding that bit. Overall from what I have heard the switch was largely a success and an improvement over the old simulation engine. Not sure how I feel about the changes to the removal of individual positional awards.  I would absolutely buff fullbacks they seem largely underutilized and as attributes just very bad half backs due to speed being so important in the game. Fullbacks have the potential to be a really cool and unique position.

24. You’re in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus or Ultimini half-time show. What would you do?

The headliner for this half-time show is the former artist formerly known as Prince.

Starting out the entertainment the ghost of Prince’s past, blouse and all will rise through the middle of the stage on a pedestal and will challenge Charlie Murphy, Eddie Murphy and his crew to a basketball game titled “shirts vs blouses”. Prince’s crew will blow out the Murphy boys. Prince will open up with a cover of Queen’s hit song “We will rock you”.  Then a smooth transition into Eddie Murphy’s hit song, “Party all the time”. That’ll then transition into Prince’s song “Let’s go Crazy” followed up by “Baby I’m a Star”. Doves will be released and there will be a dancing brigade that will be dropping some sick choreographed moves. As Prince and the Revolution start playing “1999” the pastel colors everywhere really made you feel like you were partying like it was 1999. Followed by the classic "Raspberry Beret". Then all of a sudden it begins to rain right as the lights dim down low and "Purple Rain" is then performed.

27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task)

I would have been a Full back. I would have been like Tampa Bay Legend Mike Alstott, a true threat when running the ball. I would have actually made running the ball as a full back. However I would also have the ability to ground and pound everyone on the field. The main reason I would like to be a fullback is because they are just offensive linemen with hands. They also serve up quite a considerable amount of pancakes to all of the friends on the team. That’s why being a fullback would be amazing. It would also like to see the ball every once in a while with handoffs and would live to show off my celebration dance that I have been planning on showing off. It is called the spruce shake. I will leave that to the imagination of what that is but I will likely get fined for it. Kids will need to avert their eyes from the Television because of it but it will be good for the environment

29. What team do you think has the best branding in the league? Why?

There are a lot of teams in the league that have some really great brandings but I think the team that has the best branding in the league is the Colorado Yeti.  I would consider the Yeti to be my favorite branding because of their use of black as a focal point with how colorful this logo is by using the Colorado state flag. Everything is on a red backdrop in front of which is the Colorado flag’s iconic C outlined in royal blue in front of what is assumed to be a yeti but it is actually just a silhouette of what is unknown. In addition to that I think of all of the potential ways you could portray a missing link or yeti going with something unknown and lacking in detail was the right move. This is a team branding that I could see at a professional level and is something that I would happily purchase merchandise for.

The S44 draft class is an interesting class. The prior two seasons averaged at 36.5 actives per class. This class had 39. The two classes afterward averaged 35. So from a pure number side, the S44 draft class was a good sized class. From a pure number sized, we can see the draft as follows:

3 OA: OrangeJulius (San Jose) at 549 TPE > Another disappointment of a pick unfortunately for San Jose. He was the top DSFL player and started off very hot, but have cooled off and also is more a 2nd round pick.
4 OA: GrimmCrackers (Austin) at 675 TPE > Solid Pick and has lived up to his draft slot
5 OA: katarn22 (Orange County) at 630 TPE > Slightly overpicked but still solid of a pick. More a late 1st to early 2nd round pick.

So overall after picks 20, it has been just constant busts with 3 sleeper picks. In the first round, 2 steals, 1 total bust, and 3 overdrafted players.
This class with 22 players at 500+ tpe is a solid draft but compared to what the draft could have been it has been disappointing. The outlook on this draft class was supposed to be 5 surefire HOFs, 10 great all-stars and 2 rounds full of very solid picks. Unfortunately about 50% of that expectation has come true but with an overall class of new players and recreates alike, the S44 class is one that is nice to follow up. Now it will be interesting to see how the class keeps developing and how many will actually reach the 1000 tpe threshold. At the moment the question is will 22 all reach that goal or will it be closer to 10 to 15. That is a fun storyline to follow.

10. Through a random lottery drawing, you have been named the league's new commissioner for a day. Congrats! What improvements would you make to the league if you had the power to do whatever you wanted? (+5 TPE)

Hot damn! Through a miraculous chance lottery event that I didn't even know I entered, I'm not the commissioner of the ISFL! I really enjoy this league and am happy I was able to join at a point where a lot of the potential issues have been addressed to keep the league in tip top shape. Competition levels are great, but just like any sport that relies on drafts, the team parity could be better. Since the ISFL and DSFL effectively work as a major league and minor league, there isn't an opportunity for a true relegation system. However, it would be beneficial for there to be a competitive benefit to lower league winners along with a detrimental penalty to high league underperforming teams. The benefit of a higher draft pick is artificially capped due to TPE caps in the lower league and 0 TPE players as DSFL selectees. The best change I could make is to create a rule that any DSFL team that wins the Ultimini two seasons in a row is allowed to negotiate with the worst ISFL team to switch places in the leagues. The DSFL team is allowed to select 4 players to inherit contracts for and dissolve the ISFL draft contracts. The ISFL team that would move down would be able to capture their minor league draftees from their other DSFL teams in exchange for offering up veteran players to a waiver wire to existing ISFL teams. This is a fairly complicated process, however it adds new strategy to trying to move a team up to the major leagues. One other option is to allow a Last Place mutiny. The players can elect a new veteran player to take over as GM of their team and force the old GM to change their player to Punter. Would it make enemies? Yes. Would it be hilarious? Also yes.

23. What are your thoughts on the sim engine? What sort of improvements would you make to the sim engine if given the opportunity? (Written Task)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the sim is not that bad. I find the music is pleasant and honestly was sad when the PBE took it away. It was cool to see other music people would add to the queue and that one night when we got 16 bit music was really cool. Yeah are the sims slightly boring because it is just dots? Sure, but that doesn't mean I don't like vibing out to some music while I do it. I still don't really understand the ins and outs of the sim sometimes and get confused with some of the randomness. I know it is a sim and even the PBE is super random but I accept it because baseball is random. Sometimes it feels like the engine in ISFL is just all over the place. I still wish they had a better camera angle or even 3D but that might make the games take forever.

20. Written Option: Which teammate of yours is the ultimate team player and why? How does this person exhibit selflessness and put the team first? Are they a great locker room presence who encourages others? Do they play an important but unappreciated role on the team which doesn't receive much recognition for awards?

It would definitely have to be Frank Dux. I think of him as my little brother but he is definitely the leader on our offense. When in times of despair he is always level headed. Whether it's picking up big yards on a third or fourth down or just making a big block to allow me to throw, Frank has always been one of the best teammates I have ever had. We had a great group of veterans but Frank has really taken on that role as soon as he came over in a trade from Chicago. He is Mr. Dependable or ole reliable or whatever else phrase you want to use but our offense has really gone through him these last few years. That's not to say that I don't speak up but I have always been known as a doer and not a talker. Frank can kind of light a fire under you in a way that I can't.

24. You’re in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus or Ultimini half-time show. What would you do? (Written Task)

Well we are definitely having an awesome musical guest. Every halftime show needs an amazing musician and this will be know different. So we have to go weird. Let's do like a Warped Tour thing where we can have some emo music and maybe some pop punk. Could even have different stages inside and outside of the venue so you could see and listen to different things lol. We could also have one of those ladies that shoots a bow and arrow while doing a handstand and only using their feet. Everyone always loves those ladies. Or the lady on the unicycle that kicks all of the bowls on top of her head. That one is always so stressful. Something else that would be really great is we could do puppy races and after the races we could try and get the dogs adopted. Everyone wins in that scenario. The puppy gets a home and we raise some money.

1. The Season 44 Ultimus and Ultimini have officially come to an end. Congratulations to the the Tijuana Luchadores and Austin Copperheads for each winning their respective championships. How did each of the finalists in either the Ultimus or Ultimini arrive at the playoffs? Were there any teams that surprised or disappointed during the playoffs? Did the outcome of either championship game surprise you at all?

Well it's another season gone and it's another Ultimini victory for the Tijuana Luchadores. Over 45 seasons they have brought home 12 Championsips. If they won their fair share, bearing in mind the first 18 seasons of the league were a 6 team league and it has been an 8 team league since, they'd have 6.125 rings. Yet, the Luchadores have managed to almost double that figure. Lead this season by C.G. Breezy Jr. who posted far and away the best passer rating in the DSFL, it is no surprise Tijuana won it all this season. Breezy was careful with the football as he also lead the leage in completion percentage, and had fewer interceptions than anyone with more than 35 attempts. He was of course helped by the excellent wide receiver room in Tijuana lead by Pitter Patter and André Benn. The combination of Dan Sevin. Corey Trevor, and Kit Fisto were also an incredible committee, averaging 4.9, 4.8, and 5 yards per carry respectively. The duo were the main factors in Tijuana finishing with the second most rushing yards, second highest team YPC, and the most rushing touchdowns in the DSFL. The offense overall was impossible for the oppositions to stuff, while the defence was able to shut down anything and everything thrown at them. Tijuana managed to score more points than any other team in the league, and allowed few points against than any other team in the league. They scored 49 more points than the next closest offence, and surrendered 54 fewer points than the next closest defence. That is an extreme level of dominance. Undefeated on the road, the team's only loss came from the DSFL North Champion Kansas City Coyotes at home. A shockingly poor showing from the Luchadores normally dominant offence, the team was only able to muster 10 points agains the Coyotes in week 7. The following week, they were only able to eak past the the Birddogs on the road the following week and win by a single point, 24-23. It is evident that they used those two games as learning experiences, because they would go on to win every other game of the regular season, and all but one game by multiple scores. In Portland, the Pythons gave a fight to the Luchadores, but surrendered 14 unanswered in the 4th quarter for Tijuana to take the lead. Portland would then score a miraculous touchdown to tie it up, but with 1:38 on the clock and 3 timeouts, the Luchadores had the ball. Portland was able to stop the Luchadores deep in their own half forcing a punt. As long as the Pythons simply ran out the clock, they'd have this win over the dominant Tijuana team. Unfortunately for them, the decided to run a pass play, throwing an interception on 1st and 10 with 32 seconds left in the game. With the ball back and all the confidence in the world, the Luchadores a 64 yard touchdown to win the game. Questions had to be raised about the playcalling decision by the Python's coaching staff leading to that pick. The playoffs didn't prove to be much tougher than the regular season for the Luchadores. They manhandled the Dallas Birddogs in the Conference Championship, winning 41-16 in a game that the Birddogs seemed to be out of from the start. Scoring their first touchdown already down 34-9, the Luchadores marched their way into yet another Ultimini appearance. As the only team that was able to best the Luchadores this season, the Coyotes seemed primed to pull off a spectacular upset and snatch the Ultimini away. Sadly for the Coyotes, this narrative did not come to pass, with the Luchadores surging to an early 21-0 lead. A safety near the end of the second half put a nail in the coffin for Kansas City, who went into the locker down 30-7. The second half was nothing more than a formality while the Luchadores brought home the Ultimini one more time.
